Natural rubber, India rubber or caoutchouc consists of suitable polymers of the organic compound isoprene, with minor impurities of other organic compounds plus water. Forms of polyisoprene that are useful as natural rubbers are classified as elastomers. Currently, rubber is harvested mainly in the form of the latex from certain trees. The latex is a sticky, milky colloid drawn off by making incisions into the bark and collecting the fluid in vessels in a process called “tapping”. The latex then is refined into rubber ready for commercial processing. Natural rubber is used extensively in many applications and products, either alone or in combination with other materials. In most of its useful forms, it has a large stretch ratio, high resilience, and is extremely waterproof.
Asia is the main source of natural rubber, accounting for about 94% of output in 2005. Three of the largest producing countries of rubber are Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia together account for around 72% of all natural rubber production. Natural rubber is not cultivated widely in its native continent of South America due to the existence of South American leaf blight, and other natural predators of the rubber tree.
Synthetic rubber, invariably a polymer, is any type of artificial elastomer mainly synthesised from petroleum by products. An elastomer is a material with the mechanical (or material) property that it can undergo much more elastic deformation under stress than most materials and still return to its previous size without permanent deformation. About 15 billion kilograms of rubbers are produced annually, and of that amount two thirds is synthetic. Global revenues generated with synthetic rubbers are likely to rise to approximately $56 billion in 2020. Synthetic rubber, like natural rubber, has uses in the automotive industry for door and window profiles, hoses, belts, matting, flooring and dampeners.
Natural rubber, coming from latex of Hevea brasiliensis, is mainly poly-cis-isoprene containing traces of impurities like protein, dirt etc. Although it exhibits many excellent properties in terms of mechanical performance, natural rubber is often inferior to certain synthetic rubbers, especially with respect to its thermal stability and its compatibility with petroleum products.
Acoustafoam has an extensive range of rubber, synthetic sheeting, matting and flooring from 1mm to 15mm in thickness can be supplied in sheet, roll and profiled shapes. Washers, gaskets, floor mats, and total floor coverings are available. Rubber and polyurethane mouldings can be produced to customer specifications for example plain rubber rolls, commercials, insertions, neoprenes, nitriles and shot blast grades. Roll sizes vary from 1mm to 15mm thick and 1400 mm wide x 10 m.
We have a range of rubber matting products for sale online in our e-shop including: fine fluted rubber matting, broad ribbed rubber matting, penny pattern rubber matting and checker pattern rubber matting. All matting products are commercial grade or heavy industrial grade natural rubber SBR (styrene butadiene rubber). Roll sizes are 3mm to 5mm thick, 1.2mtrs wide x 10mtrs.
All of our Rubber, synthetic, matting, sheeting and flooring are suited for various industries for commercial to agricultural needs.
